Responsibilities:
- To carry out repair maintenance activities which involve welding works for all maintenance and repair works under responsibility of maintenance and repair section
- To lead fitters in carrying out maintenance and repair works with an optimum use of time and consumable parts within a safe condition. Ensuring cleanliness of workplace at all times
- To lead and supervise any tests, regular inspections, to ensure that the machines are always in good safe working conditions for operational use
- Communicate well with other divisions on the follow up on the pre-operation check/inspection
- Prepare and submit report/recommendation to superiors on any breakdown of equipment and repair status
- Assist the respective superior in planning and coordinating the equipment availability status in operation
- Assist the superiors in supervising maintenance or repair works carried out by maintenance contractors
- Standby during vessel operations and carry out troubleshooting for remedial works in case of machine failure during operation
- Co-ordinate with store unit on the availability of spares
- Maintain and update all checklists used during maintenance and record the repair data as required in the maintenance & repair system
Requirements:
- Possess a certificate in welding (3G) as qualified welder or equivalent/ relevant experience
- Able to generate high volumes of relevant work; able to sustain high levels of activity and energy over long hours when necessary
- Works well without supervision and performs well under pressure. Thinks creatively, and finds innovative ways to produce results
- Computer literate and fluent in English and Malay (verbal and written)
- Strong reasoning abilities and sound judgment. Good reporting and registration capability
