Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has been chosen to be a member of the Partnerships for Infrastructure (P4I), a government-to-government decarbonisation scheme between Malaysia and Australia.

The P4I project aims to spearhead Malaysia’s decarbonising effort in the maritime industry and to foster inclusive growth through sustainable infrastructure in Southeast Asia.

The news was shared during Malaysia Maritime Week 2023, attended by Kitack Lim, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Dato’ Jana Santhiran Muniayan, Secretary General of Malaysia Transport Ministry and Hj Mohamad Halim Ahmed, Director General of the Marine Department of Malaysia.

Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, PTP Chairman, said: “PTP is committed to assist Malaysia’s effort in decarbonising the country’s maritime industry and therefore catalysing Malaysia’s and global commitments.”

Marco Neelsen, PTP Chief Executive Officer, echoed the sentiment by stating that PTP is honoured to be recognised by both Malaysia and Australia government for our commitment to sustainability.

“We relish this opportunity to work closely with both parties, especially through the P4I project team and hope that a successful implementation of this initiative will become a game changer in transforming the maritime industry in Malaysia,” added Neelsen.

During the event, PTP also received the recognition by the Marine Department of Malaysia to pilot a special project in Malaysia through the Green Tug and Pilot Boat initiatives.

The announcement was made by Marine Department’s Task Force GV2050 during its presentation of Report of the Implementation of GV2050 in Malaysia (Phase 1) to Hj Mohamad Halim Ahmed, Director General of the Marine Department of Malaysia.

In June 2022, PTP entered into an agreement to deploy Innovez One’s AI-powered Port Management Information System (PMIS) to improve efficiency and optimise its scheduling.
