ISKANDAR PUTERI: One hundred and thirty Year Six pupils from 13 schools in Gelang Patah attended the one-day motivational camp organised by the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) to prepare them for Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR).
The event was part of the port operator’s corporate social responsibility initiative focusing on improving the pupils’ performances and the right technique in answering questions papers when sitting for the UPSR in September.
SK Morni Pok pupil Zafirah Adina Zainuddin said the camp was good as it helped to raise self-confidence in participants as well as enabled them to make new friends and exchange notes and tips for the test.
SK Tiram Duku headmistress Hawa Yusof commended the effort by PTP in organising the event, adding that pupils from schools within Gelang Patah area were fortunate as they had the opportunity to take part in several educational programmes and activities organised by the port operator.
PTP chief executive officer Marco Neelsen said the company was committed to continue with the programme for the Year Six pupils which first started 10 years ago.
“We want the pupils to be more creative and innovative and to think out of the box,’’ he said.
Other programmes in the pipeline this year are the English development programme, communication workshop, English boot camp and public speaking competition.
