PELABUHAN Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP) and the Johor state government teamed up to bring cheer to the folks at Kampung Felda Ulu Tebrau in Ulu Tiram, Johor. Some 300 less fortunate families from the Federal land Development Authority (Felda) village recently received food package as part of PTP’s corporate social responsibility efforts.

The food packages included rice, cooking oil ,sugar and canned food.

The event was jointly organised by the port operator and Johor public works, infrastructure and transportation committee chairman Mazlan Bujang.

It was aimed at improving the livelihood, health and economic status of the underprivileged in urban areas within the Johor Baru area.

In a joint statement , Mazlan said the state –through his portfolio-undertakes various activities to engage and serve the underprivileged in various locations across Johor.

“The people receiving the food aid are those coming from below-average income (households), single mothers ,as well as grandparents who have to single-handedly provide for their grandchildren.

“The state government is very serious in ensuring that the fate of the community is well taken care of.

“We will introduce various other initiatives to ease the burden of the cost of living , especially of those involving the Felda community in Johor,” he said.
