Phase 1 and Phase 2 which account for approximately 635 acres are developed with basic infrastructure such as electricity supply, water supply, telecommunications facilities, roads and drainage.
PTP was accorded with Free Zone status in 1997 and the Free Zone Authority in 1998 to administer, manage and operate its Free Zone area. The Free Zone laws are governed by Free Zone Act 1990 that is enforced by Ministry of Finance, Malaysia. The Free Zone in PTP promulgates the local container trade volumes of the port and forms part of the hinterland cargo catchment area.

To date, more than 80% of the developed land in phase 1 and 2 has been subleased to various local and global companies. Phase 3, 4 and 5 which constitute 948 acres, can be potentially developed to expand the current Free Zone development.
