Evergreen begins transfer from Singapore to Tanjung Pelepas (PTP)

Evergreen Marine, the Taiwan container shipping line commenced its transfer from Singapore to the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) this weekend. This shift follows the decision made in April to move 80% of its volume to the Malaysian container transhipment hub. The decision was very high profile with PTP offering Evergreen discounts similar to those given to Maersk-Sealand, such as a 30% stake in the terminal together with rates less than half of PSA’s. PTP chief executive commented that, “Our growth has received another unprecedented boost,” Coinciding with this increase in business, PTP also took delivery of 3 super post-Panamax quay cranes expected to be commissioned by the end of September.
