TNB has partnered with Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) under the Green Electricity Tariff (GET) programme. PTP subscribed to 16 GWh of certified green energy per month from May 2026 to December 2027, making it the largest GET subscriber among Malaysian ports and moving it to 100% renewable electricity. The deal supports PTP’s target of a 45% emissions cut by 2030 and net zero by 2050.

Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) became the first Malaysian port to run a fleet of electric prime movers, built locally by Terberg Tractors Malaysia in Pasir Gudang. The first 21 units started operating on Aug 11, with 31 more due by end-September. PTP’s trial found each e-PM cuts emissions by 48% and monthly operating costs by 57% compared to conventional units, supporting its goal of a 45% emissions cut by 2030 and net zero by 2050.

MMC Port Holdings, under Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary's MMC Corp, grew into Malaysia's largest port operator over two decades, starting with PTP in 2001 and expanding into Johor Port, Northport, Penang Port and Tanjung Bruas Port. Together these five ports handled 18.5 million TEUs in 2024, with PTP alone contributing 12.3 million. MMC Port posted FY2024 net profit of RM761.12 million, down 5.5%, even as revenue grew 10% to RM4.36 billion. It became a public company in 2025 ahead of a planned Bursa Main Market listing.
