Flextronics sets up at PTP free zone

Singaporean electronics company Flextronics have signed a MYR400m (US$105.26m) deal to set up production and logistics facilities in the Port of Tanjung Pelepas’ (PTP) Pelepas Free Zone.

The facility, which will help consolidate Flextronics regional operations – already based in Johor and Malacca – and will also house Flextronics suppliers.

The 120,800m2, round-the-clock facility is due to be operational by the start of April 2006.

PTP CEO Datuk Mohd Sidik Shaik Osman said the contract was expected to encourage ‘a few more independent shipping lines to call’.
