MMC's PTP, NIOSH tie-up for port workers' safety training programme

KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 (Bernama) -- Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a 70 per cent-owned unit of MMC Corporation Bhd, has inked an agreement with the National Institute For Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to develop a comprehensive safety training programme for port workers.
In a statement today, MMC said the programme objective is to cultivate the safety-first culture and provide basic occupational safety and health (OSH) training for workers on the hazards and risks present in the port industry, prior to their entry into it.
"The programme will also provide workers the knowledge and information on OSH legal requirements, as well as PTP's health, safety and environmental requirements and expectations," it added.-BERNAMA
