MMC's PTP TEUs Hit New Record In Aug

One of MMC CORP subsidiaries, PTP has recorded all-time high of 800,000 TEUs in the month of August as the busiest port terminal operator in Malaysia.
With all-time high record achievement , PTP is moving towards a total container throughput volume of 9.2 million TEUs target for 2015. For the first eight months of 2015, total volume registered a growth of 8.9% compared to the previous year.
With the improvement on the operations productivity and efficiency besides its strategic location, it further helps PTP in achieving the new record.
Strong customer supports, new customers attraction, favorable production and good equipment utilization in optimization schedule play as key factors which directly impact a positive volume growth in PTP.
It is through all these elements where allows PTP to continue to grow further and perform well, said Glen Hilton
Some of the improvement initiatives have been taken in such as completion of 2 new berths, addition of 3 container yard blocks, purchase of 3 new quay cranes as well as transforming existing RTG to electrical mode.
Also, with our existing berth length of 7.2 KM and a total capacity of 10.5 Million TEUs , the total volume is expected to increase by 25% annually.
