A mammoth 23.3m-high pylon greets visitors to the country's newest port, the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP).
The sign is located at the port administration building and is easily seen by visitors arriving via PTP's access road.
This super monolithic erected on March 6 and will add further to the prestige of the port.
It is 4m wide, 1.5m deep at midsection and weighs 17.5 tonnes.
According to a release by the port, signs this size are usually fabricated and assembled at the site, but PTP's sign was completely made at signage specialist Signtech's factory.
The pylon was shipped in two pieces and erected in one day using a 160-tonne crane.
The main body of the sign which is 19.4m long required a special extended trailer to transport it and a special permit was required to transport it after midnight due to its size.
PTP's logo at the top of the pylon is 3.9m in diameter and is made of illuminated flex face material.
The main body of the pylon is made of a combination of aluminium composite material and painted aluminum and it has a 18mm-diameter neon accent strip.
All its components were fabricated with the use of latest technology including precision water-jet cutting of materials and CAD design.
The sign has purpose-built steel mesh maintenance platforms accessible by a continuous ladder system.
It has 44 holding down bolts that are 40mm in diameter and 1.5m long.
Fabrication time took three weeks.
It is 100% Malaysian-designed and manufactured
