IT was a timely gift for some 180 Orang Asli students in Gelang Patah, Johor Baru, when the Port of Tanjung Pelepas Bhd and Gelang Patah Umno division, provided them with school supplies.

Under the "Back to School" charity programme, they presented each student from Kampung Simpang Arang with RM100, a school bag, a pair of shoes and uniforms.

The items were presented to them by Nusajaya state assemblyman Datuk Abdul Aziz Sapian.

Aziz thanked the port for being a considerate corporate citizen by contributing towards the educational needs of needy students in the Gelang Patah district.

"I hope this exemplary act will encourage others to follow."

PTP senior general manager Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim hoped the contributions would relieve the burden of the parents of the Orang Asli students.
