Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has implemented an electronic vessel clearance system for vessels to obtain port clearance.
Traditionally, shipping agents have had to submit individual documentation to four separate government agencies to obtain a port clearance certificate. These are the Royal Customs & Excise Department, the Marine Department, the Health Department and the Immigration Department.
PTP says the new system is the first of its kind in Malaysia. CEO Mohd Sidik Shaik Osman said: ‘The electronic vessel clearance system is part of the port’s effort in providing efficient services in handling and also clearance.’
The system was developed by Software Design & Consultancy Sdn Bhd under the supervision of PTP.
