Pelepas Port To see 30% Growth Again

Malaysia’a Port of Tanjung Pelepas said yesterday that it is confident of repeating last year’s growth of 30 per cent and has embarked on expansion programme to attract more investors.
The port handled 2.66 million 20-foot equivalent units ( TEUs ) last year, up 30 per cent from 2001 and surpassing its own estimate of 2.5 million TEUs.
It has begun its pahse 2 development, involving dredging and reclamation for an additional eight berths and the construction of two new berths, which will enable it to handle six million TEUs annually by early next year.
