Port of Tanjung Pelepas hits 8 million TEU mark

The southern gateway of Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has recently become the first Malaysian container terminal to hit the 8m teu in a year mark, achieving the milestone earlier this month, while remaining confident to be on track to hit 8.6m teu for the whole of 2014.

"Passing this latest milestone further underlines our position as the leading container terminal in Malaysia. We certainly could not have done this without the commitment and dedication of our staff to provide our customers with fast and efficient service over the years. We are also thankful to the government and local authorities, customers and all of our stakeholders for their continuous support," PTP ceo Glen Hilton said in a statement.

Hilton added that PTP had seen steady growth since the port started operations 15 years ago. "The port has grown tremendously from just 400,000 teu handled in 2000 and is confident it can grow and continue to record robust growth over the years," he said.
