The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) in Malaysia has become the first port in Southeast Asia to welcome the Evergreen Marine Corporation’s Ever Ace, the largest container vessel in the world.

The mega vessel, which is the first of Evergreen Line’s 24,000 TEU class container ships, docked at the port as part of its maiden voyage in the Southeast Asian region as part of its CEM Service in Asia-Europe trade.

“The berthing of the Ever Ace at PTP reflects strong confidence by vessel operators towards PTP’s ability and commitment in serving the needs of its customers,” said Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, PTP Chairman and MMC Group Managing Director.

Marco Neelsen, PTP Chief Executive Officer, added “PTP will continue to leverage through its strategic positioning as a global regional transshipment hub as well as a competitive edge in its customer segmentation to provide value-added quality services for our customers.

“Over the years, PTP has progressively strengthened its position due to its investments in new equipment and efforts to improve container handling capacity and capability to further empower our service capacities to meet the market demand and growing requirement by its customers.

“This is also to ensure the new generation of ultra-large container vessels can safely navigate to our port while at the same time guaranteeing minimal deviation from their sailing schedule.”

The vessel had previously docked at the Port of Colombo and is next scheduled to make the next port of call at Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
