Port on course with completion of PPB

New Straits Times

The PPB will house the main control system for port operations in the interim period, pending completion of the port administration building which is now taking shape.

"The PPB signifies the beginning of the Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas in the quest to become a regional transhipment hub... It may be small building, but a key building to us.

"The next few months will see it forming the nucleus from which the state of the art port will be born," said Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd executive chairman Datuk Mohd Taufik Adbullah

The PPB, which started on construction on Feb 3, was officially handed over to Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas by L & M Geotechnic Sdn Bhd today. At a brief ceremony at the port site yesterday, Mohd Taufik received a mock key from L & M Geotechnic executive chairman Datuk Raja Ariffin Raja Sulaiman.

In terms of construction application, the building was completed using patented Malaysian drywall system, a building technology which involves the use of a high strength composite material.

The building is the first in a series of structures the L & M Corporation is committed to complete under the RM380 million port operating facilities contract awarded to the group.
