PTP claims loading record

The Port of Tanjung Pelepas has claimed a new world record in loading 19,284 TEU on board the Monaco Maersk.

The new record is the latest round in a battle between PTP and the Port of Singapore to hold the loading record for a container vessel. In August 2018 PTP claimed the record when it loaded 19,038 TEU on the Mumbai Maersk. A few months later Singapore went better, loading 19,100 TEU on the ONE vessel the MOL Tribute last year.
 
There is also a stowage planning software side to the contest. The ONE record was achieved using Navis’ Stowman vessel stowage planning software. By contrast Maersk is using its own version of cCASP, the latest cloud based version of TSB’s stowage planning software CASP, to plan vessels centrally in Singapore.
 
Monaco Maersk is a second generation Triple E vessel, with a nominal capacity of 20,568 TEU. After transiting the Suez Canal, its first call in Europe is at APM Terminals MVII in Rotterdam, where the vessel is scheduled to be in port for 35 hours.
