Some 80 secondary students from Gelang Patah, Johor, took part in an English boot camp organised by Port of Tanjung Pelapas (PTP), a joint venture company of MMC Corp Bhd and APM Terminals.
The two day event on Aug 67 was held at the Savannah Hill Resort in Ulu Tiram, Johor.
The programme gave the Form Four students the opportunity to enhance their understanding and confidence in mastering the English language.
The programme was also designed to instil in the students that English is a fun language, boost one's self confidence in public speaking and communication skills as well as to create the importance of English as a second language.
The camp is part of PTP's on-going corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme under the PTP 2015 English Development Programme series which consist of tutorial classes and communication workshop.
"The main goal of the camp is to improve the students' understanding of the language in a fun and interactive way, while building their confidence in public speaking," said PTP deputy CEO Hanif Hamid.
"PTP sees the camp has inspired the students to become well-rounded individuals and thus will ultimately contribute towards the betterment of the nation."
The students were exposed to a series of activities specially designed to promote teamwork and to sharpen their skills in English communication.
Apart from the programme, PTP has various plans in line for other education related CSR programmes this year including UPSR and SPM motivational camps, educational trips to local universities and distribution of schooling aids to less fortunate students around the Gelang Patah area.
