PTP fast-tracks expansion
Fairplay
Malaysia's Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) will bring forward the start date of its second phase to as early as end-2001 on the strength of Maersk Sealand’s arrival and expressions of interest by other mainline operators.
We will be beginning the development earlier. It has been fast-tracked because of demand. The second phase will see the addition of three to six berths with a minimum additional annual throughput of 2M TEU. The port officially opened on March 13 with the aim of starting its second stage of development within five years. PTP is due to complete its first phase, with six berths with a 3.8M TEU handling capacity, by the end of this year.
