PTP Holds Motivation Camp To Prepare Students For The 2011 UPSR Examinations

The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) recently held an outdoor Motivation Camp for 150 selected year six students from 10 primary schools within the Gelang Patah district in Johor.

The 2-day-1-night event which was held at the Gelang Patah Marine Department grounds was part of PTP s CSR initiative to motivate and instill a sense of confidence and determination in the students to mentally prepare them for the 2011 UPSR examinations.

PTP places great importance in the socio-economic development and well being of the community within the port s vicinity and the best way to do this is by shaping the minds of the young ones, PTP General Manager for Corporate Communications, Property and Free Zone, Md Derick Basir said in a statement today.

The port wants to ensure that children from the local community do well in school and are inspired to give their best in whatever they do, Derick said.

Apart from gaining a well-rounded training and exposure, students also enjoy the interactive activities at the camp.

Nur Jahirah Hamzah from Sekolah Kebangsaan Tiram Duku said she was delighted to be selected to attend PTP s Motivation Camp.

The experience made her realise the importance of a good education and how it can help improve her family's standard of living, she said

This is the fourth consecutive year that PTP is holding the Motivation Camp.

The annual PTP programme seems to have a positive impact on students in the community.

According to Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Nusa Perintis 1 teacher Normah Tan Abdullah, the motivation camp have produced a marked improvement in her students' academic performance in the UPSR examinations.
