PTP Inspires Gelang Patah Students Through Annual Spm Motivational Talk

SOME 120 selected students from four secondary schools in Gelang Patah , Johor,recently took part in a motivational talk for Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) students organised by Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP).
This year marks a decade of PTP organising annual motivational and educational programmes for the Gelang Patah communities, an area where the company operates. PTP CEO Marco Neelsen said the company is committed to bridging the socio-economic gap between the urban and rural communities.
"PTP 2017 SPM Motivational Talk was organised as part of our pledge to alleviate the level of education within the surrounding area of our operation.
“Through this continuous collaboration with the Johor Education Department, we hope that this programmes can be greatly beneficial to the local students. I personally hope they will take this opportunity as their stepping stone towards their future success,” he said.
The motivational talk took place at Multivarsity Complex ,Educity in Iskandar Puteri. The programme was intended to equip SPM candidates with learning techniques and improve their examination performance. It is also aimed at providing with efficient answering techniques as well as mentally preparing them for the examination.
Started in 2007 to date more than 2000 local secondary students had benefitted from the series. Rosilah Ahmad ,a candidate from SMK Tanjung Adang ,said with PTP’s continuous commitment toward Gelang Patah area , the local students are motivated to improve in their academic and non-academic achievements. “It has assisted us in our education and definitely boosted our motivation and self-confidence in sitting for major examinations,” she said.
Adib Akhairuddin, a candidate from SMK Gelang Patah , said the programme was insightful and entertaining. “I had learnt various tips and new skills throughout the programme. The activities were very enjoyable and insightful .I will definitely make use of the experience and strive better in my studies” he said.
Apart from the motivational talk, PTP has a number of other educational related programmes in the pipeline for the students from the locality. Among them are the annual PTP English Development Programme , UPSR (Primary School Achievement Test) Motivational Talk ,distribution of schooling aid and educational tours.
PTP is joint venture between utilities and infrastructure group MMC Group Bhd and global ports group APM Terminals.
