The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), South-East Asia's premier transhipment hub, created history and a first for Malaysia by winning the Best Emerging Container Terminal Award at the annual Lloyd's List Maritime Asia Awards in Singapore.

Other nominees for the Best Emerging Container Terminal award were Dalian Container Terminal and West Port.

It was the first time that a Malaysian port has won an award at the ceremony.

Maersk Sealand, PTP's partner, shared the honours by winning the Best Main Line award.

The Lloyd's List Maritime Asia Awards is organised by Lloyd's List Maritimes Asia, a trade journal published by world-renowned shipping daily Lloyd's List.

PTP Chief Executive Officer Mohd Sidik Shaik Osman received the awards on behalf of PTP at the official presentation ceremony in Singapore last week.
