PTP, JPA pledge aid worth RM12,000 to home

Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has collaborated with Johor Port Authority (JPA) to pledge over RM12,000 worth of food and various basic necessities to residents and staff of Rumah Seri Kenangan in Johor which has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The care packs consist of dry food items such as rice, cooking oil and biscuits, while hygiene products like face mask, hand sanitiser, disinfection liquid and adult diapers were also given to the home.

JPA GM Muhammad Razif Ahmad said both parties arranged for the donation drive as soon as they heard of the plight and only took three days to gather the items.

“The collaboration is highly commended and valued as it demonstrated the best synergy between private business entities and government authority in not only spurring the economic growth but also in giving back to the community through various outreach programmes,” he said.

PTP CEO Marco Neelsen said the donation was a reflection of kindness and generosity from both parties to help fellow Malaysians.

He added that the aid was handed over to the caretakers of the home while adhering to strict standard operating procedures.

“PTP and JPA worked closely with Rumah Seri Kenangan in distributing the aid without jeopardising their safety.

“It was important for all of us involved to swiftly respond, commit and contribute to this plight. We pulled all stops to ensure the aid was procured quickly and transported in a timely and safe manner,” he said.

Neelsen said as the Covid-19 pandemic has shown no signs of slowing down, PTP will continue to do its part in supporting efforts by the Health Ministry and all its frontliners.

Meanwhile, Rumah Seri Kenangan warden officer Nor Hafizah Che Harun said the home was very grateful and appreciative of the aid particularly during these times.

“The staff is working tirelessly to ensure the wellbeing of the residents are being taken care of despite the quarantine order. To have a responsible private business entity like PTP, partnering with a government-linked organisation like JPA to quickly mobilise a helping hand during this difficult time is very laudable.

“We are relieved to have received these donated items and would like to thank PTP and JPA for their assistance and hope that it can be continued for the sake of the residents of Rumah Sri Kenangan,” she said.
