PTP to work with neighbours for free cargo flow

The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) is looking forward to collaborating with its neighbours for a free flow of cargo by introducing automated cargo flow between Malaysia and Singapore.
The proximity of the Second Link at Tanjung Kupang to PTP stood to benefit shippers in the Jurong and Tuas industrial areas, PTP chief executive officer Mohd Sidik Shaik Osman said in Johor Baru on Saturday.
"In line with providing high efficiency and customer-oriented processes, PTP is moving forward towards the free flow of containers between countries,'' he told a conference organised by the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute.
"Future success will be realised faster if ports in Johor can collaborate with other regional industrial areas and ports to draw on each other's strengths moving the state and the region towards new heights,'' he added.
Sidik said the trade growth was significant even during the economic crisis, which prompted PTP to fast-track the completion of the port and it was today handling large transhipment volumes.
