The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Malaysia’s largest transshipment hub, has been honoured with the Supply Chain Innovator of the Year: Digital Transformation Award at the 2024 Supply Chain Asia Awards on 18 October.
This prestigious accolade recognises PTP’s integration of Navis maritime solutions from Kaleris, enhancing data-driven decision-making, predictive analytics and real-time monitoring.
“This award is a testament to our commitment to operational excellence and innovation,” said Joe Schofield, chief operations officer of PTP.
“Digital transformation is about creating the best experiences for our customers through superior service and safe, meaningful work environments.”
PTP was honoured in the Transformation category for its significant advancements using the Navis N4 RTG-Optimization and OpsView solutions.
By implementing real-time monitoring, PTP says it has significantly improved operational efficiency, increasing berth productivity while reducing costs. The new performance benchmark allows for one container move every three seconds.
Collaboration with Kaleris led to the development of the Navis RTG-Optimization module, automating decision-making for RTG jobs and improving productivity by 6%.
“This award is well-earned recognition of PTP and the pivotal role they play in driving the industry forward by redefining the standards of operational excellence,” said Kirk Knauff, chief executive of Kaleris.
“As a highly innovative port, PTP understands how optimising its operations has a positive effect on downstream logistics and the larger global supply chain.”
PTP has achieved a notable milestone by handling over 1 million teu for five consecutive months from May to September 2024.
Recognised as the 5th most efficient container port globally by the World Bank, PTP continues to rank 15th in container volume throughput.
