Sembawang to assist Maersk move

Singapore-based logistics provider Sembawang Kimtrans will operate feeder services to Tanjung Pelepas from Singapore to minimise disruption when Maersk Sealand moves its transhipment hub to the Malaysian port.

The company will operate two barges and two tugs, offering shippers in Singapore 11 feeder connections a week. The frequency will rise to 16 weekly calls when Maersk completes its move and full operations begin towards the end of the year. Maersk's contract with PSA Corp ended in September. "This will enable shippers to be more flexible," Tanjung Pelepas port said in a statement.
