Tanjung Pelepas Claims New World Record

The Port of Tanjung Pelepas has announced a new world berth prodcutivity of 340 gross berth moves per hour, which was set during operations on the Maersk Sealand vessel AP Moller. The previous world record of 336 gross berth moves was set in 2001.

The web site www.eyefortransport.com says a total of 4,316 moves were recorded during operaions which began shortly after the vessel arrived from Algeciras, Spain at 21h17 on 10 May.

The new record is a 12.6% improvement from the prior PTP record of 302 gross berth moves that was set during operations on the vessle Skagen Maersk in February this year.

A total of eight super post panamax cranes were used during yesterday’s operations, which took less than 13 hours to complete. The vessle departed Tanjung Pelepas at 10h00 hours on 11 May.

Henrick Lude Jogersen of Maersk Singapore, described the new record as amazing and a “fantastic achievement”.
