Tanjung Pelepas Moves Early On Phase II Plans

The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), embolden by its success in attracting Mearsk Sealand to move its business from Singapore, has revealed plans to start work earlier on phase two of its development.
PTP's chief executive officer Mohd Sidik Shaik Osman said in Malaysia's Business Times that work to build an additional three to six berths under the second phase would start as early as next year or in 2002. PTP is set to complete the first phase to handle 3.8m teu by the end of this year.
