Two Malaysian ports vie for awards at 2003 AFSCAs

Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) is vying with two other ports for “Asia’s Best Seaport Terminal Operator” award in the 2003 Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCAs), to be held in Singapore tomorrow.
PTP has been nominated in the category together with Port of Hong Kong and Port of Singapore.
PTP has also been nominated in the “Asia’s Best Container Terminal Operator” category alongside Hong Kong’s Modern Terminals Ltd and Singapore’s PSA Corp.
“We feel honoured. The nomination itself is a proud achievement as the award is prestigious,” PTP chief executive officer Mohd Sidik Shaik Osman said in a statement yesterday.
He said the nominations are a “testament to the excellent relationship and teamwork of the management and workers who have been inspired to turn PTP into an efficient world-class port”.
Another Malaysian port, Westport in Port Klang will vie for the “Asia’s Emerging Container Terminal Operator” together with China’s Guangzhou Container Terminal, Singapore’s Jurong Port and China’s Shekuo Container Terminal.
Winners of the 2003 AFSCAs will be announced and presented over a black-tie dinner ceremony at The Fullerton Singapore.
The AFSCAs is organized by the publishers of Cargonews Asia/ Logistics Asia/ Cargonews China, a widely-read Hong Kong-based forthnightly transportation and logistics trade publication.
