UEM Land Sdn Bhd, the master developer of Nusajaya in Johor, has formed a strategic alliance with Port of Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP) and Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (SATS) to promote the project outside Malaysia.

The three companies will jointly market and promote Nusajaya to attract potential investors to the country's biggest development project.

The agreement will also further help promote PTP and Senai International Airport to the international market.

UEM Land managing director Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim said the collaboration will allow the companies to leverage on each other's strengths and maximise resources as well as avoid duplication of efforts through joint participation in selected roadshows or exhibitions held locally or abroad.

"Four roadshows will be held this year to promote Nusajaya in other countries such as Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Japan," he said.

He said after exploring these countries, UEM together with PTP and SATS will be looking into the possibility of expanding the market reach to other parts of the world.

Wan Abdullah told this to reporters after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with PTP and SATS in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

He represented UEM while PTP was represented by its chief executive officer Harun Johari and SATS by its president Datuk Ismail Yusof.

The regional city of Nusajaya is a key component of the Iskandar Development Region and is being developed on a 9,669ha area which comprises seven main projects.

The development project is expected to be fully completed within 50 years.

Nusajaya is located 25km from the Senai International Airport, which is being developed into a new and important transportation and cargo hub in the region. PTP on the other hand is located to the west of the project.

UEM Land Sdn Bhd is close to deciding on a potential partner for its proposed theme parks at Bandar Nusajaya, managing director Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim said.
“(We are) still talking to potential partners. This project is driven by Khazanah Nasional. I believe they will make a decision soon,” he said.
Nusajaya includes the Johor administrative centre, the Puteri Harbour housing project, a medical city, education centre, two theme parks, an industrial centre and a golf course.
One of the parties that UEM Land is reportedly having discussions with is a well-known international theme park operator.
