UEM Land Expects IDR To Be Hyper Active In 10 Years

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- UEM Land Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UEM World Bhd, is confident that the Iskandar Development Region (IDR) will be hyper active with projects in 10 years time.

"In 10 years time, you will see all the projects such as hospital, state government offices will fully commence their operations," its managing director Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim said here Friday.

"You will also see parks of international standards with resort style living and a successful industrial parks for advanced technology. The Nusajaya city itself will come alive," he told reporters after the signing ceremony between UEM Land and Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP) and Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd to jointly market and promote the PTP, Senai Airport and Nusajaya.

Wan Abdullah assured that various projects slated for launch in Nusajaya are on track and expected to be completed by end of this year or early next year.

He said the Johor state new administrative offices would be delivered as early as August this year and the government departments would be shifting over by the first quarter next year.

He said the medical park project is due for completion by the year end, while Puteri Harbour projects will be completed by the first quarter of next year.

"It is not only a private initiative but it is also fuelled by government agenda. The government is supporting this project and they have announced that RM4.4 billion in infrastructure for IDR under the Ninth Malaysia Plan," he said.

To hasten the pace of activity, Wan Abdullah said that an additional coastal link, linking Johor Baharu to Nusajaya would be developed.

The PTP is located to the west of Nusajaya and is the fastest growing container ports in Southeast Asia while Senai Airport is expected to play an important role in providing an efficient and integrated transportation service to complement and accelerate the economic activities within the IDR.
