Under The Watchful Eye Of Ptp's Security Force

Just like most ports in the world, PTP is highly committed to ensure its facility is protected from any security harm that might create a threat to its business including illegal smuggling activities.

PTP's Security Emergency Services department (SES) made up of Auxiliary Police with police powers has played a very big role in achieving the above objective. In order to secure the port area, SES controls and restricts movements within the port operational areas to prevent any illegal entries by people or vehicles which amongst others can lead to acts of smuggling within the port area.

In order to deter goods from being smuggled out through the gates, strict procedures are in place to ensure that all vehicles exiting through the main gates are thoroughly checked for unauthorized goods leaving the port.

Amongst the other efforts undertaken by SES to protect the port and make it more secure includes regular patrolling at strategic areas including the wharf and container yard. The former is to prevent unauthorized boats from coming along side the wharf whilst the latter is to prevent breakage of containers and the tempering of its cargo.

These proactive security initiatives taken by PTP together with the close working relationship between PTP's security unit, Free Zone Authority and the Malaysian Customs department has resulted in the success of the latter in deterring smuggling activities at PTP.
