Quay cranes arrive at Tanjung Pelepas Port

With the completion of the first berth, the lower portion of the first batch of cranes had been delivered, PTP said in a statement. Upon delivery of the upper portion of the cranes this month, installation and commissioning of the quay cranes will be completed by October.

These cranes have an outreach of 53 metres, the longest in the country. The cranes were designed specifically to cater to the world's largest Super Post Panamax vessels.

Crane operators at the port can now look forward to further training on these cranes with the assistance of experienced personnel. With six berths due for full completion in mid 2001, PTP has on order of 18 Post and Super Post Panamax quay cranes with an additional six on stand-by.
