PTP chief executive officer, En Harun Hj Johari, said the increase in container throughput was partly due to the integration of Maersk & P&O Nedlloyd, which has brought about new services at PTP, and the continuous growth by Evergreen Marine Corp. This has also resulted in an increase in PTP’s global connectivity to 70 weekly services throughout the world.

The container port chalked up nearly 8 per cent growth for the period over the past year which it said was a result of both the new, enlarged Maersk Line - created following the acquisition of the former Anglo-Dutch carrier P&O Nedlloyd last year - as well as organic growth by the port's other main customer, Evergreen Marine Corporation.
